What makes you think NHTSA and Carfax would maintain a database by VIN ... ? That would be a waste of their resources because it would be unnecessary redundancy. How would they compile such a database if they did? What makes you think NHTSA or Carfax could better then Volvo? After all Volvo built the cars. Volvo has all the information. Volvo is the only one that can compile a database by VIN.

What reason do you have for not trusting what the Volvo database has to say about you VIN number?
Do you think Volvo is part of a vast conspiracy to screw you over?

Uhh, I think this might be a slight over reaction.

Volvo issued a notification that certain models of cars in a certain set of VIN ranges have a recall. Based on this it looks like my cars would be covered by the recall. When I look up on the Volvo website it seems to indicate my cars are not covered (although the result is not very user friendly and reads more like a database error than something intended for an end user). Carfax however indicates that at least one of my cars is covered by this recall and sent me a notification to this effect. I don't thing Carfax is in the business of creating this information/data out of thin air, so it must have come from somewhere so using your logic it must have come from Volvo. If so, why doesn't the Volvo website show the same information?. So either Carfax or Volvo data is wrong. I agree Volvo would be the definitive source but Carfax must have got their information from somewhere and in answer to your question, that is what makes me think the publicly accessible Volvo website it wrong (well not wrong, jus not yet updated).

Someone else mentioned they were notified by Carfax. Wonder if they can see that same status in the Volvo website?

Anyway, no use speculating. I'll be patient, let all of the different systems synch. I was just hoping to get the recall addressed early before the demand for replacement parts outstrips the COVID restricted availability.

Speculate all you want about databases in synchrony or not, but if this is your concern just call them. Volvo USA customer care 1-800-458-1552. It seems to be a 24hr line. A guy will pick up quickly, you can mention the recall and give them your VIN. Then they'll have a Y/N. Sorry for restating the same thing, but I shared the same concern as you and it's not that hard to address it. Then we'll end the last half page of speculation.

Its not a over reaction. Just answer my questions then apply some critical thinking.
Volvo issued a notification that certain models of cars in a certain set of VIN ranges have a recall.
Read the recall. 2001 - 2007 V/XC70 Not sequential.
Not sequential means that not every car in the range is included in the recall. The online Volvo recall database will tell you if your car is one that is included or not.

From the recall:
2001-2007 VOLVO V70: VIN Range 1 : Begin : YV1SW53DX11001259 End : YV1SW614982690996 [✔] Not sequential.
2001-2007 VOLVO XC70: VIN Range 1 : Begin : YV1SZ58D911000166 End : YV1SZ595771288669 [✔] Not sequential.

You forgot the click bait that just dangles a carrot.
The thing about dangling carrots in the original context is: the mule could never reach the carrot. Some still play it that way because it works on some people just like it does a mule that cannot figure out its a moving reward always just out of reach. For example: Trickle down economics.

I've been going back and forth between Volvo and my dealer. I called Volvo and they quickly confirmed that both my cars are included in the recall. However, the dealer says they're not and won't schedule the work. I asked them twice to confirm with Volvo but so far, they haven't....

In the US dealers are independently owned. Ask Volvo for the location of another authorized service center.

Never forget the one that will not look out for people.
