Hello:
Our V70 exhibited something strange yesterday. After pulling into the garage, I noticed the cooling fan still running. Nothing new there.
After turning the car off, we leave the ignition key in the cup holder in the console. Upon entering the house, I closed the garage door.
About 10 minutes later, I hear the garage door open and when I go back out there I hear both cooling fan and the interior air circulating fan running in the car.
I've seen the car run the interior fan before not knowing why, but I'm certain the car also opened the garage door by itself through the Homelink system. The operators manual was no help explaining this.
Anyone else shed any light on this?

Your house and car are possessed....nah, I'm sure they're not...
We had a few strange things happen when we left our keys in our car. We quit doing that. Instead, there's a hook on the garage wall where we hang all of our car keys now.

MIJ,
Most insurance companies will refuse to pay out if the keys are kept near, or in, the car and it is stolen.
One unlucky person I dealt with had his house burgled. Car keys were on the hall table. Car was taken to carry away the loot and the insurance company paid for nothing. Neither the household goods nor the car were ever traced.
Bill.
As a trained crime prevention person I hope that the hook/keys are not visible to anybody passing whilst the garage doors are open, nor even visible to your friendly neighbourhood burglar.there's a hook on the garage wall where we hang all of our car keys now.

I doubt the garage opened by itself but anything's possible.
The fan is the "afterblow".
If you've had the AC running, the blower fan will come on about 15-20 minutes AFTER you shut it off and run for up to 1/2 hour, this is normal.
It cleans out the condensation in the AC system and is good for AC longevity (and smells)

Don't worry...the keys are out of sight although easily accessible.

OK that makes sense, although I've never seen this behavior exhibited on our 2000 XC.
Regarding the auto opening garage door, the problem may be a device I installed last year to make sure it closes if we drive off without closing it.
Generally the device works OK, but we noticed in the last couple of days, it has opened on its own. Perhaps it was coincidental the car fan was running when the garage door made its move.
