Hey all just joined the forum as I've gathered a ton of info here. Been a busy last month for me.

2002 S60 2.4T with 180k miles got new CV shafts to solve a 70mph shudder. While there did lower control arms that were shot and engine mounts. Runs like a top. Went with TRQ parts so hope they hold up. Had the car a bit over two years (since 150k) and been a good runner.

Bought a 2008 S60 2.5T last month with 138k miles. Overall very nice cosmetically, a number of TLC items done:
Oil and filter change (Castrol Ultraclean 5w30)
Trans fluid drain and fill (Val Maxlife)
Strut assemblys
Swaybar links
Lower Control Arms
Ball joints
Sunroof shade guides
A-pillars (fabric falling off, swap to plastic)
One item I forgot to check at purchase was the rubber glove test, so hitting my maintenance and repair wall I sent it to an independent shop in town to do the PCV, rad hoses, thermostat and have the throttle body cleaned. Fortunately it was pushing only a little air with cam seals in tact. Cut 1/4" out of the oil cap gasket to prevent further issues.

Ready to just drive them lol.

I have a video of the process, but too shy to post it here (not enough beer consumed).

Interesting choice of target and interesting method of testing your radiator protectors protective abilities ;)

What intercooler is that behind the screen?
Nice fitment on the welded SS guard by the way!

That's my Hayden transmission cooler.

Yeah, stick welding stainless sheet metal was entertaining, especially with my near zero welding skills and a 25 gallons kettle of freshly brewed, 8% ABV "Six feet under" that was going to spoil quickly in summer weather and had to be consumed timely ;) Lots of weld-grind-cut-redo cycles.

That is going to give you issues. Oil will leak out and collect on the top of the Cam cover. May even seep down into the spark plug wells.

Yes, was only a short-short term fix until the PCV is fixed this week. It was that or risk blowing cam seals...pick your poison. Plugs will get changed this week to clean things up.

It is easier and reversible to pull the dip stick out a bit to relieve pressure.

I have a fresh oil cap gasket in the garage for when it gets home. The old one was crusty enough it wasn't sealing tight when I bought it. Fortunately caught this one pretty early.

Good tip on the dipstick though, any bit helps to keep the seals intact when it is building crankcase pressure.

Rolled the P2 down to her new home on Long Island.

Took Husky on ferry

Picked up Abby’s brake parts

That ferry ride looks like fun besides the view. Only time ever took a large boat ride was in 84. First time in China. Overnight and was much slower back then and super cold.

You go up top on the ferry and the view of along Island Sound is beautiful.

The trip is $12 passenger/$60 car , about 15 miles and takes 75 minutes. The alternate route is to go through NYC , 90 miles of heavy urban traffic (1-4 hours) and $30 in tolls. It’s a no brainer since I can walk from ferry to house in Port Jefferson.

Can you provide the location of the ferry and is it too hot and humid in the summer to be on deck?

It runs from Bridgeport CT to Port Jefferson NY

Top deck in summer is nice, the Sound stays about 70F max so it’s never hot.

2002 got some surgery tonight. I removed a lava lamp (former autodimmer) from the rearview mirror and transplanted the mirror guts into a manual model with good glass. Satisfyingly easy project with a good result.

VIN coding a mirror? Yea, that makes sense...
