Hi Lewismug
Does this modification work on a SC-811.????
As thats what is in My 850 S`wagon.
Created an mp3 input for SC-816......

Adding an MP3 plug-in to your Radio
I tried to implement these suggestions on my sc-810 in my 1993 850 Volvo. While accessing the tape deck was much easier than described for the sc-816, the tape deck looked all different...
I ended up finding this post
http://volvospeed.com/vs_forum/index.ph ... opic=79171
and contacted "Owned" for details. Turns out all I needed to do was to find the left, right and ground contacts on the tape deck board. (You can see them in this picture, on the very right end of the board with R to the right and L-CH and S-GND to the left of the contacts below the one for right):

Adding the resistors only reduced the volume, so I removed them again. Also, I ended up connecting the left channel (according to the tape deck board's labeling) to the jack's top contact, not the right one as in the pictures.
Cheers,

If only mine had been labeled L R and GND!!! It took so long just to figure out the pinout for the thing! Glad you were able to get it to work for you! Without the resistors in my stereo, it was overdriving everything and sounded like crap!

lewismug, thx for sharing your invention, you'd done a great job, you have an exact stereo system that i have SC-816, I was seeking a way to plug my Iphone to the stereo and now I found it, thank you!!
but for the safety, i wanna make sure something that you have mentioned above, cuz if anything gos wrong, would probably have to spend more than buying a modern stereo system to repair.

In this step, did you actually pull out the connection board and turn it upside down? cuz we see from below the orders are different.

somewhere in this forum someone posted the solution for his SC-813:
https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/chat/p ... c&start=40
and I recognized that the SC-813 actually uses the same connection board as the SC-816 does, but he soldered the wires to different pins, and he didn't use any resistor at all.

hum !!! which one should try ...?

Hi,
with the above info (thanks Lewismug) I connected my mp3 player to my CR905. Works pretty good but every now and then I get a terrible noise coming through the left channel.
Its not in the soldering or wires; if I disconnect everything it still makes that terrible noise. I've checked everything and rebuilt the whole thing: It's really in the headunit and I can't find what it is. Shaking it (as in riding along a bumpy road), fiddling with the internal wiring, it doesn't matter. It's only on the tape deck though, the radio and cd changer work fine.
Any ideas?

That is such an elegant solution! I've been using an FM radio trasmitter device, which involves all sorts of problems. So I'm definitely going to use your idea. Thanks!
Two things I LIKE about the FM device are that it powers/charges my ipod (which I really only use in the car), and that it uses the ipod docking connector's line-out rather than the headphone jack---so I don't have to fiddle with the ipod's volume control.
So I'm going to try routing your audio lines and a voltage (12v and 5v work) source that switches on/off with the tape deck to either a dock or a cable with the docking connector.

Wow, this is exactly what I needed! Is it just me or does the tutorial get cut off, though? I never found out what the pins circled in black are for, and I only seem to be getting sound out of the left channel. Can anyone help me out? Thanks so much; this community is great.
