C30 Starting Issue

Post by cliftonx80r »

My 2008 c30 T5 is having a very strange issue. To start the car, the battery has to have been unhooked for 30mins- a few hours. Hook the battery back up and it will start once. Turn the car off and try again and it throws a "Key Error Try Again" and will not start until you do the battery reset. I scanned the car with ViDA and it is throwing a LIN BUS 2 Error code after just having the battery plugged in. If you read the codes while it says "Key Error" all it throws is a Key not recognized code. I have replaced the Ignition Switch, gotten another Key Programmed (Which works to unlock and lock the doors, but not start the car), Replaced the CEM through XeMoDeX, you name it, I've tried it. The only thing I haven't tried is getting the new CEM reflashed with new software, as XeMoDeX loaded the old software onto the new CEM.

The previous owner also had this issue and attempted to fix it by snipping the wires to the Alarm module.

The previous owner also made a horrid attempt at converting the headlights from Xenon to Halogen and the headlight connectors all have all but 4 wires snipped, and I honestly cannot find the other end of those wires, should they be shorting out somewhere and causing problems.

If you have any ideas, please share, I'm getting desperate at this point.

Former 98 S70 T5 had an intermittent starting issue. Just wouldn't crank no reason nor rhyme. While working under the dash attempting to put back the alarm modules removed by previous owner, found that a wire had been pinched to almost breaking.

The only way to start the car during those times was to use a wire and touch the positive post of the battery directly to the starter with the key turned to second position. The alligator clipped wire was left under the hood for those unfortunate moments. Careful not ground the wire if you want to attempt it.

However, first give this MVS member a call. Very sharp and nice people. Might be able to steer you in the right direction or provide a solution.
