I'm not even using a travel mug, just the gas station disposable cup. It just feels very precarious to me, when maneuvering around town. I don't want to end up with coffee in my passenger seat. The biggest issue is leaving the gas station where the driveway is downhill, and the road is 90 degrees to it, going up hill. Then the bumps as I'm turning onto the highway on ramp. When driving my Saturn, the car has enough side to side movement to slosh the coffee out of the cup a bit, so the whole cup tumbling out of the Volvo cup holder is a real concern.

I've been holding on to the coffee while in the Volvo, but I could really use two hands on the wheel at this point, due to traffic, and tight maneuvering as the driveway is near the intersection where I have to turn left across traffic.

Alex is an interesting character, and Swedish Car Parts just got in some leather seat skins for 850 Rs. Robert Spinner spends a good bit of time there when he's in Chicago.
Oh, so this is a known vendor! I'll look for Robert's video.

My HVAC filter frame/holder arrived today. I purchased it used through Ebay. I cleaned it up, and installed a new Mann filter. I had already vacuumed out the area a few days ago, when I discovered the need for the frame.

I also replaced the rear brake pads. The ones I removed were Volvo branded and had very little friction material left on them. I also found stainless steel shims in there. I reused the shims with cheapy pads, as the rotors really could be replaced. I'll likely do that when it gets warm out.

I have a bit of squeal when coming to a complete stop, and had hoped it was the rear brakes, but it's still there. The fronts look like they were replaced not long ago... any ideas?

Could be something as simple as poorly bedding the new pads under previous management.
This is the way I was taught to do it, many long, long years ago...

Maybe if the weather cooperates, have the front pads out, knock off the glaze, and rebed.

I chased a rear brake squeal a while ago. Replaced the brake hardware and greased the slide pins for the rear calipers. Also, cleaned the calipers with a wire brush and painted them a gloss black to keep them from rusting. Squeal went away and hasn’t come back.

These calipers don't have slide pins, that I saw. They've got a piston for each pad. I've never seen calipers like this before.

Maybe the problem is that the pins are missing then?

Fixed calipers are an older design from floating calipers but aren’t rare on some makes. They ar e better in wet environments as they don’t freeze up or stick like floaters.

If you buy cheap parts though, they will rust up and stick

I thought you meant the pins that the caliper would slide on. I do have the pins you're referring to. I just installed new ones. I guess the pads do slide on them to an extent, but their main function seems to be pad retention. I put anti-seize on the ends, but didn't put anything on the exposed middle.

I can see why Volvo would use them in the rear then.
