I have a 99 V70R and a 99 V70XC I have blown head gasket on the R. The XC was a grandma owned car that somebody's parents bought for 16 year old. Kid was a pizza delivery driver. So bad cam seals and turbo was cranked up. Kid abused it but car is beautiful inside almost outside. The V has had 2 bad head gasket issues now again interior and car great shape. Can a motor from 99XC 2.4 lpt go into 99V70R hpt and not explode. Using hpt in R. Any suggestions that get me on the road in my R are appreciated.

I think you will need a tune to get the ECU map to play well with the LPT on the XC motor.

Your tuner needs to be knowledgeable that Volvo ECU are VIN specific or else they won’t work

Also as I found the instrument cluster is also coded to the ECU and TCU by the Vin# which is stored in the cluster and the ECU. As long as the trans are the same ( I believe 4 speed auto) I think the TCU will be ok.
