The Blackstone Lab sent me following oil report; are these vitals a good indicator for the engine to reach 250 - 300K without failing?

My 01 V70 2.4t had a delayed oil light that would be OK if driven daily, but if I let the car sit for 2 or 3 days, the oil light would delay more and the engine would slightly rattle as it picked up oil pressure. I sent an oil sample to Blackstone and they also mentioned that 7ppm lead in my sample wasn't normal. Mine was an o-ring on the oil pickup tube where it goes into the block.
A final test after my repair shows my lead level lowered to 3ppm. An improvement over the 7ppm.
How's your wagon sound on startup and does the oil light go out quickly? PS, all my other Volvo's that I had oil sampling done from Blackstone came back with lead levels at 1 ppm.

The oil lamp goes out immediately after the engine starts. The lubrication systems - oil pan, seals, pick up, oil cooler, oil pump, PCV, etc were serviced not too long ago, around 190,000 miles, more here viewtopic.php?f=9&t=61449&hilit=2001+V70XCignatz wrote: ↑24 Jan 2022, 14:54 My 01 V70 2.4t had a delayed oil light that would be OK if driven daily, but if I let the car sit for 2 or 3 days, the oil light would delay more and the engine would slightly rattle as it picked up oil pressure. So, you've had oil pressure problem that wore rod bearings, you had the oil sump dropped to address the issue, and you didn't replace your old rod bearings? It was cheap (a set of Glyco is under $60) and super easy, sump removal is 80% of rod bearings job.ignatz wrote: ↑24 Jan 2022, 14:54 My 01 V70 2.4t had a delayed oil light that would be OK if driven daily, but if I let the car sit for 2 or 3 days, the oil light would delay more and the engine would slightly rattle as it picked up oil pressure. I tried to post my last report, but I couldn't figure out how to fuzz out my phone number and such.
4-1-2018 153,000 miles......7ppm first oil sample
11-25-2018 162,000 miles.....3ppm first report after fixing oil pickup
8-24-2019 172,000 miles.....1ppm second report shows good
I'm at around 197,000+ miles and will do another oil sample this summer. If the lead levels start going up, I would do rod bearings.
But right now its sounds OK while starting up.
I just didn't want to do rod bearings at the time I dropped the pan, but rod bearings could be in my future.

Love the science of oil report, vtl!
I switched my cars to Pennzoil EURO 5W40 some 4 years ago; would report be different if the engine oil was a synthetic 10W30 as recommended in owner's manual?

Yes. Thicker oil, less mechanical wear, less metal in oil.
I've got two engines from two 2005 XC70 to compare, both taken apart at 220k miles. One was mine, I bought it at 80k miles and used highest possible quality oils all the time, quickly moving from 0/5w30 to 0/5w40 and last few years to 10w40, topping up with whatever 15w40 diesel oil was available at the gas station. The other engine was from typical neglected car. But it's the same engine model, same age, same mileage.
I measured the bore wear, my engine had it about 1/3 of the other engine. Rod bearings in the other engine were worn, my were almost like new. Other engine had cylinder head moderately warped, my had only couple of depressions (lower areas) between combustion area and cooling channels. Other engine had valve stems and valve guides wear, mine had it beyond detection. And other such things.
Don't know about other engine's history much, but I was beating my engine.
Making long story short: thicker, higher quality oil reduced mechanical wear and thermal stress drastically. But you still have to replace valve seals timely, around 150k miles

Is this the valve stem seals you're referring to for a 150k miles service? If so, then, our Robert DIY channel has a four-part step-by-step video on valve stem seal replacement -- I'll look through it for the assessment of task.
I believe, Pete had a discussion on rod bearing -- I'll search.

I would not use an 8 ppm lead as a marker for bearing wear. That’s 8 parts per million! In your roughly 6 liters of oil, thst means you have a total mass of
6 liters ~ 4000g * 8E-6 = 32 milligram of lead. That’s not much from the mass of lead in the main bearings, rod bearings, small end bearings.
