Boot not locking, 2003 S80 D5

The dash indicator, indicates that the boot isnt locking, if I set the boot catch with the boot open the dash indicator goes out and the boot opening button operates, unlocking the catch, if I close the boot the dash indicator indicates boot unlocked and the boot opening button doesnt operate, i have tried adjusting the hoop piece in the boot floor to no avail, any suggestions, regards Chris
