I started refinishing some steel wheels. Wrong primer, incompatible primers, coats too thick, metal too cold - had to sand it all off and start over.

I think I have the room all toasty, then I pick up a tool or touch a piece of steel and realize they're nowhere near room temperature.

If I paint in the basement, it fills the house with paint. If I plastic sheet the basement, it fills me with paint.

Need to paint only in the summers. At least it is not the old country as that was maybe 2 days a year!! :lol: :lol:

I just learned that the Makerspace where I rent access no longer allows spray painting indoors. I'll have to wait to do my bumpers until the Spring. Still, I washed the junkyard pair of bumpers that I got to practice repair, sanding, priming, painting. After testing on them, I'll put them on my car so I have plenty of time to repair and paint my actual bumpers off the car. Who knows, maybe I'll wind up with two good sets (but likely not because the junkyard ones are pretty beat).

Started making plans for a head gasket replacement in the summer. Will accumulate the gear and tools and hope for the best.

I got a spare head from a 1998 v70 on my wrecked car. Would it be worth just swapping heads to avoid resurfacing the old one or best to keep the kit together. I was a bit intimidated by the 850 tutorial but need a few days to adjust to it.

The plan is to take a few days off to do this and ensure it is done right. The goal is to get another 120-125k km out of the vehicle so cost wise i still see it as beneficial.

Curious what you fellas think on this. I am not sure how the head went bad as i have not had an overheat in the two years of ownership. This is a recent development with the oil as well and combustion gases in the reservoir tank.

You take the head off, then evaluate it for flatness. It’s likely it’s fine if you didn’t overheat, but you don’t skip that step
