Glove box door compatibilty?

Will a 1998-2000 glove box door fit a 96 850?

I finally got my glove box door open but not without damage. I have ideas on how to fix it, but it would save me time to just purchase a used one. It seems the later doors are more common on ebay, and look like they may fit.

The contents of my glove box were (insert drum roll).... a very cheap new in the wrapper hair brush, lipstick, and a "Help" flag with a sewing pin in it.

It looked like someone had already spent time trying to open the door since I find damage that I don't think I did.... leather chewed up on inside edge, and loose hinge screws that allowed the door to drop some and rattle.

I hate to say it, but i'm afraid it might not fit. If you found the glovebox door in a parts yard i'd buy it if they have a return policy. most parts yards (near me at least) have a return policy on items above a certain price. give it a shot, this could be a good leap forward for a common issue in this community.

update: just took another look at the v70's glovebox, it should work. go for it!

Check the latch mechanisms are the same. If I recall correctly they are different. You may be able to modify to fit but take the latch as on the frame surround as well as the door.
