1998 V70R swap complete with issues
Well, after over a year and a half of the car being apart, the engine is in and runs great. Now for the issues... I'm getting codes 0050, 0051, and 005F. They seem to all be related to the BCM and never came up before the swap. The ABS unit works just fine but there seems to be an issue with the right front wheel speed sensor. It works when it feels like it and the ABS unit works with all 4 wheels when it is giving the proper signal. I imagine that I nicked it when putting the CV shaft back in or something. The cruise is no longer working for some reason. Might be related to the BCM issues. Can I just get it programmed to the ECU and all will be well? When I was looking these up initially, I thought it was Body Control Module instead of the Brake Control Module. The other known codes are for an evap and secondary air, but it has had them since I got the car. Also, the R angle gear has a larger diameter driveshaft connection, so it looks like I either need to hunt a viscous coupling or have a new custom shaft made.

What did you swap?
There is no brake control module on a 98.
How did you retrieve the codes? Do you actually mean P0050 and P0051 (oxygen sensor/exhaust related)?
005F sounds like an SRS code (airbag) but again, how did you pull it?

I swapped the engine, trans, angle gear, ECM, TCM, engine wiring harness, and I have a 98 R cluster I need to swap in. To get the codes, I used an actron code scanner. The fuel trims seem to be showing good. I know I need a DICE box and VIDA to get all the real info. The actron had no definition for these codes and there was no P in front of the numbers as well.

if its a 1998 a dice/vida will not help I believe. the 98 systems were pre-can bus and are physically wired differently according to schematics. something like a dedicated tool or a vag com kkl with volfcr on a laptop will do a lot of good for 98's

Sounds like a lot of work, well done! I know it's not so critical to your question but I still don't understand what was "swapped." I'll take a guess based on everything you replaced: was it an NA car and now you swapped it to turbo? You didn't need to move over the angle gear for that however, so still not getting the big picture though it's not that important.
Maybe borrow a generic code reader from an auto parts store, those will give codes in the standard P format. Most stores loan them for free. Aside from sorting out this issue it would be good to know if your codes are P format or something else. I use a cheap code reader on my P80 cars but many people have had great success on the P80 (98 and the 850 OBDII) cars with 850 OBDII. It uses an OBDII bluetooth adapter and an app on their smartphone.

It was a 2.4 LPT AWD car and I swapped in the V70R 2.3 HPT as a unit. I have an Actron scanner that gave me those undefined codes. The bluetooth one with Torque doesn't give me anything but sensor data. It says no codes were found.

It is easy to damage the the ABS sensors at the wheels as the wires are easily damaged if you are not careful. There are resistance values for the sensors that you could take and then get someone to wiggle the wire near the wheel to see if the issue will appear.
There was a thread recently with a ABS issue. Check the reluctor ring on the axle has not been damaged and remove the ABS sensor and make sure it is not damaged. The reluctor rings can crack if they get rusty.
Neil.

Is the CEL illuminated? Or is the ABS light on? You can also check if the ABS is working. Or is it driving like it has a problem?
Apparently 850 obd ii app is much better than torque, but I have not tried either one.

I got the 850 app today and got some good news. The 51 code is for the SAI system signal faulty, the 50 is SAI system pump flow fault, and 5F is EVAP canister shut off valve flow fault. The ABS has the right rear wheel speed sensor error. So I have been looking at the wrong wheel sensor.
