2001 V70, Climat control can not be adjusted

Post by fedka »

I have a 2001 V70 with auto climate control. It was working well over the winter, but developed a problem, first on the driver side, and a day later - on the pass. side.

The outlet temperature can not be adjusted - it stays cold (unheated) as I turn the temperature knob clockwise, all the way until the last click.
That last click apparently overrides something and I get the hot air from the went, the hottest possible I guess.

Fan, AC - work OK.

I understand the problem is either in the console (bad pots?) or in the motors that move the dampers.

How do I troubleshoot it? It seems to be relatively uncommon problem, not much information available on the web.

I hate to take it to a dealer with this...

I am the only one with this climate control failure?
Perhaps anyone has some description/ schematics, so I can try to fix it myself?

Thank you!

I have a wiriing diagram for your car's climate control (assuming it's an ECC). If you want it shoot me an email. badger36-at-knology.net

This exact failure happened to me and seems to be common from what I've read. Fortunately, an easy fix.

Be careful and read the battery dis/reconnect requirement. People have fried their ECC doing this. Read Dis/Reconnect battery in the link below
