When were the spark plugs last replaced?

When were the ignition coils last replaced?

Most likely an ignition coil has gone bad. Which engine do you have? The 5 cylinder or 6 cylinder? Turbo or non-turbo?

You want one from Bosch to Volvo, not an aftermarket. If you want the car to run trouble free, consider replacing all 5(6) as preventative maintenance. Paying someone to replace one coil will cost you the same as you replacing all of them

+1 with what abscate says. you could try just replacing the one coil on top of the spark plug on cylinder #5. At least it will highlight if that is the actual cause. It is either that or swap the coil from another cylinder and see if the issue moves to that cylinder. At least it would confirm the issue is the coil.

If these are the originals they have lasted well. Even if they have only lasted 10 years again that is a long time. Aftermarket coils are a total crap shoot and usually have a short life span and by that I mean it can be months.

Try to buy from a reputable source and check what warranty they give on the parts. Bosch = OEM or Volvo.

thanks for your help, i definitely will do what you suggest for me. by the way, do you have recommendation part link for ignition coil and spark plug? i try to search it and not sure if it is fitted or not. i recently bought a air filter for my S80, amazon says it is fitted, when i started to replace it, i realized it could not be fitted, because the filter size is not correct at all  , then i don't trust amazon checking option now.

To make a recommendation we need to know if your car is turbo or non-turbo.

The non-turbo is also called "2.9 liter engine."

The turbo is called the T6 engine if it has six cylinders. Or if it is a five cylinder then it may be called a 2.5T engine.

Do you know which one you have?
