When we drained coolant, wondering if we got it all. Pulled the plug upfront (the one with the allen wrench) but wondering if we got it all. Since looking around on here. I'm seeing that we should've also gotten the engine drain plug. We did get under the car ('02 V70) but couldn't find it. We assumed that the radiator drainplug was what we were looking for.

Thanks again to all of you. I know I'm probably becoming a huge pain, but you guys are a wealth of information.

Coolant temp. sensor...oh, and no, you didn't get it all...you won't unless you find and undo the engine drain as well.

Okay, only did the thermostat but seems like now it's not surging and have heard the fan kick on.

Generally, when is the cooling fan supposed to kick on? After driving a certain amount of time?

Thanks a bunch.

Coolant fan will kick on depending on the temperature so if it's hot in the engine bay it will kick on...it will be affected by outside temps as well as if you use your A/C etc. Depending on model, it may stay on for awhile after you cut the engine or even several minutes after you turn your car off...to blow moisture out of your A/C evaporator. If it's coming on and then going off I wouldn't worry about it. Also, don't worry about the little bit of coolant that didn't get flushed out. You got most of it- that's what counts.
