When you try to pull the cluster it will be self explanatory...there will be a vacuum hose connected to the back side of it that effects the turbo gauge (needle)...it just slides off of a nipple there.

I just did the odometer fix last weekend. I, too have a Turbo, so the needle for the turbo boost gauge had to come off. The needle has a female joint which slips snugly over the shaft of the mechanism behind the cluster. Mine slipped back a bit too easy and actually fell off when I turned the instrument panel over to re-attach all the screws. I gently squeezed the hollow portion of the needle shaft with pliers. This allowed for tighter fit. When re-installing, the needle should point at the middle of the boost gauge. I took about 60K miles before I found this site and instruction how to fix the odometer so, I skipped the "fast forward". I did write a note for the future noting the odometer repair, date and mileage. I did the A7 trick to poll my actual mileage and wish I would've done the odometer fix a few months ago, so I could have watched the 200,000 roll over.

You still can but it will take a drill and a pencil with an eraser on the end!

Thanks for the prompt reply. Much appreciated.
Sorry, I'm extremely new to this.
I've tried looking at the vacuum diagrams from the 850 turbo manual, but it does't make sense to me. Do you have any photos? I can send you want I'm looking at if you'd like or you can download it from the main forum.

This is much harder than I thought. I just don't want to risk breaking anything and not having everything work back to default.

This is the brass nipple at the back of the cluster, only to be found on turbo models.

The pipe always has to be removed, so yes I did remove it.I would remove either from the top at the brass nipple, or the at the bottom from the connection, under the kick panel, next to the steering column, this would depend on which was easier and my state of mind  . I had to remove the cluster twice and got frustrated because I was tired and was struggling, so I chose the other route.
On this issue of tiredness, if you can take a break do so, much better to do it slowly and surely than quick and muck it up.
I hope this helps.

Thanks for taking the time to post the photos and explaining everything. :D
I followed instructions to fix the odometer.
Did a test run and it still doesn't work! I want to see the numbers roll.
I just took it apart again and the none of the teeth are broken. One thing to note (not sure if this affects anything) is that it doesn't have a wire, instead there is a 4 needle adapter.

The smaller gear looks like it has a tooth missing!!!!
Or is that the old gear?
Did you try to wind on the miles using the pencil and eraser method? Did the numbers roll then? If not you may have the orientation of the gears all wrong or the motor may be shot.

There is a way to test the instrument panel. Look at the download-able 850 manual at the top of the page under instumentpanel.pdf

The gear in yellow is the old broken tooth.
I didn't use the pencil and eraser method, instead I just manually turned/ rotated the wheel just enough to get the trip as well as the collective miles to move, so I could press the reset button. It rest, but once I installed it back in and test drove, it didn't work. :?

I don't have a diagnostic cable. My car as a data link connector, but for some reason I can't get the OBD II to read anything on it.
Mind boggling. I'm determined to get it to work.

:(

FINALLY GOT IT TO WORK! :P

THANK YOU TAILOR for all your help! :D

All I did this time was made sure I reinforce the prongs and made sure it was pushed in all the way.
The trip ometer is a little off, but I'm not going to bust my butt doing it a 3rd time.
