Can you post a picture of what your car has? This is a case of where a picture speaks a thousand words!

Greetings! I see there's life in an old thread of mine. I'll try to assist, although it's been a few years.
7.) Mark the drive link position with respect to the motor shaft, then remove its retaining nut and washer.
The picture on page one shows the wiper mechanism with motor removed. If you flip it around the other way, you'll see the motor shaft is attached to the connecting links. That must be where the retaining nut and washer are located. The picture you posted looks like a wiper arm post, where the clip needs to be removed before the shaft is pushed through.

Hi renns - pleased you re-discovered your thread! Thanks for sharing your experience.
I suppose the first thing to say is that I have not removed my motor. I saw it as possible to remove the shaft to which the wiper arms attaches without doing so. If that's incorrect, I guess that's something else I need to do (I was just trying to leave everything as 'untouched' as possible so everything aligned better once re-installed).
With reference to the image I attached on the 13th, it very much appeared to suggest the shaft had 1x nut and 2x collars/washers that needed to be removed before it'd be possible to extract the shaft from it's housing. I can't see these at all. Despite removing the retaining clip, everything is solid (I can't be sure if this is because everything has seized, or because there are other components that need removal first)

It sounds like your wiper shaft(s) are seized tightly in the housing. That must be why they are not coming out. It's been a long time, so I don't recall details, but if you can get those shafts and links out of hte housing without removing the connection at the motor, then that should be fine. I would soak with some penetrating oil, and let sit for a day or two, and then see if you can get them to move. Heat also works wonders, just be careful. Perhaps a propane torch would be good as temps are fairly low (in relative terms...). Heat the housing, not the shaft. The thermal expansion rate of the aluminum housing is far higher than the steel shaft, so it should break loose quickly that way.
Once the wiper shaft(s) are out, it really is an easy job, and should last for years with some proper lubrication. I never had a problem again after my repair.

Thanks, renns.
I've had penetrating fluid on them since Sunday with no effect. I need to see if I can get a propane torch..
This is another one of those 'should be easy tasks that never is'!
Appreciate you getting back to me. Cheers
