Check engine Light

Post by jillraylong »

Hello, RE:(98)V70XC AWD
I have the check engine light come on when I start the engine.
The light stays on for about five minutes and then goes out.
Carried it to Auto Zone to read the codes. Their reader didnot
find any codes. Is this normal and I must go to the dealer
to get the codes read or is there such a thing as a continuing
false signal.

Are you sure it is the "Check Engine" light or is it the "Service" light?

The service light is preprogrammed to remind you to change the oil and to go to the dealer to pay them to get the damned thing turned off.
