CEM Fuel Pump etc after heater core fix

Post by Hil »

I need some help figuring things out on my 2005 Volvo S40i, A few weeks ago, I pulled onto road, took a left and the car started dying. I tried to keep it going to pull into a parking lot but no go and had to push it. It cranked but no start.I took it home and left it alone for awhile Prior to this, I had been getting a code for the catalytic convertor and had replaced both 02 sensors with no change. I had noticed the car was running at a higher rpm than it should at speed, for example 26 to 27 hundred rpms at 60 mph, yet I was still getting terrific gas mileage. I had read posts about fuel pressure sensors, etc possibly causing problems so didn't want to jump right to a catalytic converter as the car had less than 150K on it.
Today, I had someone listen when I cranked the car and they heard no noise at the fuel pump. I changed out the 15 amp fuse in the CEM for the fuel pump but could not find where the fuel pump relay is. I tried to start it with no change. I left the CEM hanging down and checked codes even though the battery had been disconnected for a bit after it broke down. I have an off market reader that is supposed to read Volvo specific codes as well as the OBDII ones. I got no codes for OBDII but the following ones for Volvo:
EP7 0071(Power Supply. Signal Too Low)
DDM 6D0D ( Could not find a definition)
CEM 8F24Wiper Motor Module (WMM). Jammed
CEM 3F02 (Shift Lock Signal. Signal Too High)
CEM DE29 (Communication With The Climate Control Module (CCM). Signal Missing)
DIM 0001 (Vehicle Speed Signal. Faulty Signal)
SRS 0005 (Power Supply From The Battery. Voltage Too Low)
ECM 8010 (System Relay Output, Faulty Signal)
I had not gotten those codes before.
The battery was not fully charged when I cranked it over I remembered that I got some off the wall codes before after the heater core was replaced. At that time someone cleaned the contacts in the CEM for me but today I noticed that the fuel pump fuse while clean at the ends that go into the box were clear, back from that to the beginning of the plastic was brown even though the fuse otherwise looked good. Also changing it didn't do anything. I am guessing I have a problem with something electric before the pump that needs to be fixed before I go changing pumps, and doubt if leaving the SEM hanging down caused the codes but what I don't know about the car could fill a library and I just want to get it running to sell since I bought another call. Does anyone have any thoughts about what is going on and how to check things out? I have a fuel pressure sensor I could put in, and a fuel pump but am wondering if the CEM is bad and causing the issue.

I noticed I had this in the wrong forum so have re-posted it there under a different heading. Thanks.
