Woo-hoo, fixed my remote!

Woo-hoo, fixed my remote!

The day after I bought the car last week, the remote stopped working. Replaced the battery, no dice.

I thought maybe I'd unhooked some wire or something with all the messing around I've been doing. Couldn't find anything though. (One nice thing about this car, although it's been some neglected, it hasn't suffered any hack jobs to the wiring or anything).

Today I took the remote apart and studied it under a magnifying glass... a couple of the solder joints looked granulated and dull. So even though they were tiny, I superheated my soldering iron and then just touched each one for the barest fraction of a second.

And it works! W00t!

I figure this remote will give up the ghoat again at some point, but at least I know it isn't a problem with the car. I can always shell out the bread for another remote.

Would love to see photos of the solder joints and area you repaired, if possible.
