The last few days I have worked to cut back and reshape an unruly ever green bush in our front yard. It has been growing there since maybe 1980. A lot of it froze last February but recovered. I have cut it back with loppers, a bow saw on a pole and trusty Homelite chain saw. Old tools made to cut like new with a file.

After the cold weather has warmed, I am back to doing more outdoor projects.
A very small garden is started with sweet corn, peas, spinach, and onions planted. I have bags of garden soil to mix with the plain dirt for tomato containers. I had never had success with tomatoes until last year when I planted in containers with compost and dirt.
I have also returned to removing and replacing the trim boards under the eves. During warm days this winter I prepainted these trim boards.
This week I removed the old boards from another section and found some rotted framing to be replaced. New 2 bys will be spliced in where needed. The worst work is cutting out old boards where access and motion is restricted by other framing, bricks, and roofing.

Our little flowers are still inside under the grow lights. This weekend we cut down a dead tree, and pulled a dead Service Berry tree out of the ground WITH OUR BARE HANDS!!! Amazing how easy it came out, no digging! Trimmed a lot of hedges before the buds open up. Cut up a bunch of wood.

So far I'm feeling good about saying farewell to Cailleach. I've put away my snow blower, salt buckets, and snow shovels. The ground temp shows above 40º.
