Speedo and Tach Illumination not working

Hi Folks,

New s80 to me, at night there is no illumination for the speedo and tach, they are otherwise functioning fine.
(I have the headlights out at the moment as I was going to change bulbs and noticed the wire insulation was falling off, waiting for new harnesses to arrive.
I don't know if the headlights being out is of any significance or not.)

also, the other lights do change brightness with the adjustment wheel... ie: radio, info screens, button lights...

Update...

It turns out to be that a driver chip in the DIM is bad, causing very low power to the light bar.
