Re: Subframe Bushing insert job
I replaced my rear subframe bushings today. I received my parts around noon and it took about 3.5 hours setting up and running to the store for some washers. I used the previous method of drilling through the plastic and I used a large Allen key as a spacer when I pressed the new ones in. However, I used one large washer and a used bolt to get it most of the way in and for the last 1/4” I used the two new large washers for the front with some some washers in between to make my press. They slid nicely all the way in. I’ll do the front two tomorrow and I’ll use the old washers from the front in the same way.

I mistakenlt ordered the rear subframe bushings - That is - rear front and front rear are two different parts. Anyway, FCP sent me a pair of Merle's, bolts and that white plastic insert. Car is blocked up and i took a look - dropped the bracket to see. I did not find that large washer the previous poster was using as a press, and the bushing in there has rubber "Feet" and an oval opening. I did not order that Big washer, thinking a could reuse mine. And the white washer goes cup down between the body frame and the subframe? I am attaching pix of the new parts and the old. IS my Merle the right one? Do I need to get the big washer? Much thanks in advance..

The large washers are for the front two of the four front bushings

That bushing doesn’t look like the Rein or Volvo front bushings. Double check your part number against the ones on FCP.
Edit**
Genuine Volvo 3507923
Rein CRP-AVM0576
I just looked up the numbers, the picture you posted above looks like a rear subframe bushing (rear of the car).

No it does not look like it at all. I did a search on the FCP site and the part I have Volvo Subframe Mount - Meyle 9157576 is what came up, so I ordered it. I tried other wrod searches but came up with the same part... I am not happy.
So it looks like I will have to re- re - order. Big question:::: I have removed both the 2 -14MM bolts and the 17MM bushing bolt. As a temp until I get the right parts - is it safe to re- use them, and what torque should I use, since they are "used' Bolts? I have new 17mm bolts, BTW
Much thanks

Well that is a good question. I think you have two choices. I definitely would not reuse the old bolts. I would use the new bolts and torque them to I think 78 ft-lbs, but not do the torque to yield (extra 120 degrees), then reuse them with the new bushings or do the 120 degrees w/ these and just buy new ones with the new bushing order.

Yes, I reused mine. I wasn’t as technical with those. I drove them in w/ my impact wrench.
