Quote is for $2100 of that is for around 16 hours of labor. It needs an engine out to swap the headers as the studs are guaranteed to break. The replacement studs are titanium so should not break again.

The problem I am finding is that short of constantly cleaning and protecting the underside I have been limited on what work I can do, where with my Volvos I will pretty much take on any job.

Well, it’s a 4Runner, so there’s probably not much that you would need to do anyway. They’re solid trucks.

It took a good deal of time ( 8 weeks? ), but I picked it up on my way back home from DC. Just under $30 with tax. Out come the leaky cooler lines, to be hung in the rafters as trophies.
Everybody's Friend Robert has a new batch of used now and again, he seems to have found some during his West Coast adventure, and when available, I think he asks $25 shipped.

Yes, before you ask, the star adjusters were in the fully closed position, and the cable adjuster at the handbrake lever was all the way in, and stuck there.
And yes, the car came to me in that condition. More mayhem underway. The cables are frozen in the sheath at the backing plates. I am desperately trying to avoid replacing them. It is an R, after all.

I would rather do 'R' cables over a FWD anytime! They are not easier but I find them easier.

Make sure you do not loose the 'C' clip that holds the cable into the back plate as, as far as I know they are NLA. Same clip used on 240/740/760/940 I believe. There are similar clips used on mid-90's to mid 00's Dodge trucks I believe and some mid-50's/60's GM products. They are slightly wider but may be able to be adapted.

I literally replaced my oil cooler lines with bluebox new parts the day before he announced he was blocking off the cooler channels from now on. I could have saved $300. Oh well, need to source a plate before they leak again in 100k miles.

Well the good thing is that you can rest assured that your oil temperature is regulated as Volvo intended. Not much more than that though lol.
