Well i already knew that
I was trying to get an idea what car repairs were if they were extreme or reasonable. It's hard to tell i guess.

AC Delco is a good battery brand so should be as good as anything else. It should come with a warranty. Check with the repair shop on that. If the warranty is not covered, I would have them remove it and if your old one is around take it and and have it replaced on your warranty. They should have done that before swapping out a part. In fact I would still do that as you could swap it for a new one and sell it at least!

In the defense of most good repair shops, they would prefer to use good parts as they are on the hook should a part go bad. They don't always have access or knowledge to what does or does not work on these cars based on parts manufacturer.

I replace the MAF on my young friends car, I gave her the choice of OE Volvo or a used one if I could find one. Although money was tight she weighed up the choices based on reliability on a car she relies on, so OE it was. However, due to the delay I found a used one at PnP junkyard that at least got the car mobile until the new one arrived. Worked out for me as I now have a good tested unit and she got the use of the car until the new one arrived. I don't currently need the part as it is not the same as the 'R' but I know at some point either I or one of friends here will need one and a full priced part is not an option.

Oh ok great. I use AC Delco AA type alkaline batteries they are just as good as any other brand and are very very reasonably priced below the 'big name' brands.

I had an AC Delco very long time ago with what they used to call the "Delco Eye" but i never got to use it because the battery i had in the car at the time never went dead. When i finally had an opportunity to use it is was dead, dead because at the time i was too lazy to keep it maintained over the years.

So the consensus here seems to be that you should go with the 'better' parts that may cost more.

Little Update

He called yesterday. When i answered the phone all i heard was:
"How long you going to keep my car in your driveway".
I wasnt sure what to say to that, when he added that it was a joke.

So i guess after all the complaining i should say something else positive.
The first was that he did park one of his cars in the driveway so i would not have a problem with the parking spot.
Another positive thing was that he found the 'evap' problem and fixed it. That was a problem i had with the car since day 1 when i first bought the car.
Another positive was that when i told him about the 1/4 to 3/4 tank of gas limits to get the monitors to flip back to ready, he said he knew about that too. I said something like "you guys are on top of all that i see" and he replied, "We do this every day".
I thought that was cool because every other garage i checked out in the past several years always seem to not be able to do something or another or just not understand the car. So it seems like they really know what they are doing it just happens to have to cost a lot to do some things.

So once again i can trace this back to the economy and the way it changed over the past 20 years or so. It got worse and i think the main reason is because real estate went up so high and so fast. I also believe that is the reason for some foreign policy problems. Other countries are feeling the burn too and get restless. I think that when whomever let the real estate prices go so high did not realize the far reaching ramifications. Probably greedy. It makes life harder for everyone around the entire world and can even lead to war.

Hello there,

Unfortunately i have to agree. We can only hope they have the ethical fortitude to donate to charity and help the rest of the world where some people are extremely, and i mean really extremely, lucky to get one meal per day. I have to think about this often when i am faced with a big challenge in the world such as car repair charges (small chuckle). At least i have food on the table 3 meals a day plus things like soda. If some of those aforementioned peoples could have just one glass of soda, they would probably be so happy in tears i bet and declare that day a village holiday.

I interact with a lot of wealthy people in my business and I’ve observed the 10M ones are normal well adjusted , empathic people….the 100M crowd are 99% something that rhymes with “ pricks”. I will note the women in this group are much better citizens than the men.
