Volvo Findings! (What have you found on FB/Craiglist/Kijiii/other)?

I went to a big Dodge dealer in Seattle to drive and buy a cinnamon brown 245T wagon. Nice shape, low miles, asked questions, they were evasive, which made me nervous. Can I call the person who traded it in? "No." Can I see the maintenance records? "Hang on, let me see what we can do."

So after I drove this car, they sat me in a cubicle and made me wait. Someone else came in, drove it, and bought it from under me. I said What the hell's going on? They said to my face, "We don't make any money selling cars, we make money on extended warranty contracts. We don't want people to know anything about the car, we toss the records."

Now that's a shifty way to sell cars.

"Minimal rust" as compared to other decades-old cars marooned on an island in the North Atlantic. Wonder what the current cost estimate is for recovering it to the hard on the other side ?

The XC70 started fine yesterday. No codes in Vida. I left it on a trickle charger until today. I spent the day cleaning it a little. The previous owner had rug rats, lots of goodies under the back seat. I jacked up the car and looked around. Suspension looks good except front struts are a bit bouncy. I do have a few leaks, not bad though. Looks like the typical timing side exhaust cam seal, but I’ll probably do them all at some point. Angle gear, maybe the seal at the front passenger shaft, but it might be blow by from the timing area. No leaks at the angle gear to transmission or the Haldex in the rear. I might be getting to know the angle gear in the future. Overall it looks to have been well cared for.
