I'm about to start removing the cylinder head on a 98 v70xc to replace two burnt valves. I'm having a shop do the valve and stem seal replacements, but I'm supplying the parts.
I'm trying to make this car last as long as possible, so I'm using the OE headgasket and stem seals, but I was wondering where you guys would buy valves from? $68 for the genuine Volvo valves seem a bit steep, and there's no OE listed. The aftermarket options range from $7 to $60 dollars but I really have no idea about the companies. Same case for head bolts, 12 Volvo headbolts will be around $100, but IPD and FCP have aftermarket options for about $2 each. Just wondering if anyone has used these and had any issues.

The turbos use sodium filled exhaust valves which I would get from Volvo. You can use Inconel valves for intakes. You probably only need 2-3 exhaust at most
Volvo for stem seals, use the part number for the set and save about 33% of cost
You don’t need to replace the head bolts. Master mechanics reuse 2-3x.

I checked the inside of the other cylinders with a borescope and mirror, the other exhaust valves looked ok, just caked with a white crust. The two burnt ones are REALLY burnt, it looked like a third of each valve was gone, both in the same cylinder.abscate wrote: ↑26 Jun 2022, 12:57 The turbos use sodium filled exhaust valves which I would get from Volvo. I was under the impression that the low-pressure turbos were the same blocks and heads as the NA engines, without sodium filled valves. Maybe it's different between the 97 glt and 98+
