I think this is the right place to post this so here it is. I want to go the track this weekend and thought about running some 100 octane. Is it safe to run this gas on my car? If not, then what is the highest I can go without causing any harm to the car? I heard that I can burn up the converter or an O2 sensor, is this possible?
The reason I want to go is because some guys laughed when I said that the car is quick. They are going to the track as well. I want to race them and beat them. Then put the video on youtube.
oh yeah, the car has about 140,000 miles and runs well.
100 octane? 1994 850 turbo
I imagine you would have to run up the engine to 5,000 rpm a few times, under load, with that fuel, before racing it. This would allow the computer to interpet the readings and set itself up for the actual race. The car can't do much with more than 94 octane. The 100 sounds as if it Avgas. (aviation)

I only run Sunoco 94 and the car loves it.
I've noticed better gas mileage, acceleration, and a wee bit of better idling.
