For those who are looking: 1) Stand on the passenger side of the engine compartment, 2) Look at what's on the other side of the raised letters "VOLVO" cast on the valve cover, 3) Look closely just "north" of the first 'O' in VOLVO, 4) In this very crowded space look just north of the bolt on the valve cover 5) Look for the black hose fitting that flares out where it attaches to flame trap housing and a smaller rubber tube coming off the housing at 90 degrees. (see attached photos)
Now that I have (finally) located the flame trap I have two questions 1) What is the best way to maneuver/wrestle the hoses off without damaging them 2) Should I buy new housing, upper hose and horizontal hoses before taking things apart (because on a 1990 car they might be toast or break)?
