Manage to delete my first post about this so here is the short version:
Internal leak in pump (“aluminum block”). Found a good used one from a 2004 c70 that I grabbed. Car had same brake features as mine, i.e. Both have abs/stc. In my world it will work if i just move the working electronic bcm over to the new pump. Garage temperature is now close to a Finnish Sauna so work probably continues tmrw morning.

I loosened the three 10mm bolts to get the module out. For me that felt easier than to fiddle with those t25 nuts.

Chances of moving those t25 on the Northeast crud, zero. Great tip on just moving the bolts to get the unit out.
The intellectually superior amongst us know exactly why there are 10 valves on the ABS body. Let me know when you figure it out, I haven’t yet. Probably googleable , but where’s the fun in that!
Conjecture
On1999- the ABS independently controls each wheel, previously it’s front independent, and rear dual
I think you need two valves on each wheel, one to close off the feed from the master, and the other to open hydraulic pressure from the ABS pump
4 wheels x2 valves = 8
The last two snub off the feeds from the master, maybe, protecting it from residual pressure after an ABS intervention ?
Total 10
Back on topic…I got two UBG brand brake rotors for free with free shipping, at the cost of 10 minutes flap disc work. Oiled and put into supply shelves

What symptoms did you have and how did you determine that an internal leak was the problem? On Geronimo, some of the 10 pins have, making me suspect the aluminum block as a potential failure point.

Took yet another trip to PnP junkyard to see if I could liberate the Nivomats from a 98 V70XC for a friend. I got them out but not befor breaking the top off the shock where the flattened hold section is. Naturally I have the correct Volvo tool and it was that that broke the tip off and jammed into the end. Decided to try my cordless impact driver and that is by far the easiest way to loosen it. Nut came off without any issue. Took them both off. One is a little crusty but seems ok but both seem to be still dry. Both have bad boots.
Most of the driveline is removed back t the rear diff, but with abscates nagging in my ear about the NLA cam bolt adjusters for the rear axle, I decided to tackle them. I have removed them many times on others without issue but these would not budge. Dawned on me finally that the arms were both bent. Possibly from lifting the car. This prevented me being able to remove the tension off the bolt at both ends, so after 30 minutes of going no where I gave up.
I noticed the last time I was there that the radio head unit was a Volvo reconditioned one. What caught my eye was the face and buttons were like new. Normally I wouldn't buy any more head units as I have many, but this SC-816 was so clean it needed to be rescued!
Finally went to try and liberate an angle gear from a 00 S70 AWD. Spent 2 hours getting the prop-shaft bolts out, the RHF axle out and the 5 nearly impossible to get to bolts. Only then I found that the collar was stripped and the teeth in the angle gear likewise. Didn't surprise me when I found the oil was more like grease inside and clearly had never been changed! Bummer!
Did take the 2 front axles as I don't have spares and they both had good boots.
Best part was that I found out I have been missing out on the 55+ club discount for many years as no one had ever mentioned it!
Neil.
