I found it easiest to pump it back in the top cooling hose rather than mess with the dipstick hole.
Pump conveniently threads on the top of a soda bottle, same threads as quart of oil.
never bothered measuring the fluid hot as it shifts fine and i put back the same as came out so...
Don't know how the pic got rotated 90 degs.

Replaced the front and rear hydraulic engine mounts which were the last if the ones to change. I should have done this sooner as it has made a big difference to NVH. The old ones hadn't leaked but were collapsed and cracked and the wire rope was very baggy!

or run it on front jackstands and listen with a stethoscope. Haldex fuse is pulled.
Is your noise sort of harmonic depending on vehicle speed, with intermittent vibration? I rode in the passenger seat today (is there anything more emasculating than being driven around by your wife? ) and it honestly sounds like the wheel bearing on the passenger side has gone too. Noise increases when braking or putting load on the right side. What a bugger!!!
use a $12 stethoscope, you can hear it clear as a bell just turning the hub by hand.
good excuse to buy another tool too.

I’ll try that. If i recall theres a little bit of brake drag noise that impedes my ability to hear anything else with the wheel off. Stethoscope is $7.50 this week on sale! Sweet

Much of my time during the job is spent hauling things up and down the stairs to the basement or in and out of the storage shed, or running back downstairs when I realize I need something else,or taking a break from standing out in the sun,or using flashlights or work lamps when it gets dark.

So hard to tell on those wheel bearings, I just went through this and replaced both of them. FYI I found the best price on FAG's at RockAuto.

I broke the shift lock button on my automatic V70. I had repaired it with super glue years ago. I can still shift, but the button hangs out.

scot850 wrote: 14 Aug 2022, 19:33 Not really, they had used some clear coat of some sort on them at some point which was a swine to remove. only way to get neat the edges on the XC was to remove them. I took the opportunity to swap all the minor bulbs out at the same time as the 2 that were out could not be removed otherwise. It was when I discovered the RH outer marker light is the only one that rotates counterclockwise to remove!!

Well Scot, since you pushed me I took the front bumper skin off today  . I had no idea how easy this job is, and I really had no choice because I have to replace the windshield washer reservoir since it is leaking. There is simply no way to get to it this otherwise and now I can replace all the little headlight bulbs easily as well.
