I noticed an increased vibration when applying brakes, and the dealership told me I need new front rotors and brakes.
These were installed, but the vibration continues, and may be getting worse.
Any ideas what this might be?

When the new rotors were installed they were probably over tourqued with an air wrench warping the new rotors. They can be repaired by having them turned. You need to take it back to the people that performed the brake job and get them to fix it. Don't be accusatory, rude, or let emotions get in the way. Talk to the manager, tell them that you brought your car in for vibration while braking and it still has the problem after a brake job was diagnosed. Ask about TSBs and recalls for brakes/vibration. Also let them know that you have already paid for a repair that has not occured, you still have the vibration...

i usually do all my brake jobs my self on all cars that i ever own and when i got my 94 850 i also did the brakes. as usual i use over the counter brake pads and they work on the first 10-100 miles but will start to vibrate after, specially when you are feathering the foot brake lever before applying the full force to completely stop the car. the solution i found was that i replaced the pads with volvo brand pads and no vibrations ever occur. upon inspection of the over the counter brake pads i found curls at the edge of the pads like when you scrape the top of a chocolate bar with a knife. this means the binding material used in making the pads has problems to turn into dust so acts like a stiky goo that causes the vibration. this turning to dust problem is not present in volvo brand pads, and they do make your wheels a lot dirty.

Yet another vote for OEM Volvo pads. I tell ya, when there's a chorus of agreement it's hard to reject.
This isn't to imply that there aren't many of you out there that have great luck with aftermarket and/or performance pads and rotors.
Either way, remember to check Tsquared's excellent brake shim tutorial here:
