not far off!ive repaired much of it where all the bits are present but things like speaker grilles and fragile interior bits around the back doors are held together with super glue! still the volvo is better than my peugeot 406 every bit of plastic on the pug exploded as soon as you try undo it,hateful thing and i dont miss it at all!

To be honest the dash elements feels stronger than the 940 ones, the vents on these like to explode when you look at them wrong!
Headliners trims on the other hand feels a little stronger on the 940s, but that might just be my cars

Used it as a mobile garage to do my E83 rear brakes. Ooof, I didn’t have to check spec On the pad thickness
FreeCP parts!
Trick for low clearance caliper slide bolts. Socket ratchet hits shock, but my hex bits take a 10mm ratchet in a raised boss

Replaced the battery in her '97 GLT yesterday. It was starting to crank slow for her this past week, and I remembered that we hadn't replaced the battery in it since we bought the car 6 years ago...
No telling how old it was when we bought the car, as there wasn't any date identifier on it.
I'd say we got use out of it.

Rusty rotor visible through the wheel equals braking action nil on that corner. Ditto the parking brake.
Stuck puck.
I didn't know it at the time, but this car was a rolling total loss when I got it. Couple of round trips with the subframe, and three steering racks has given me a clue.
Not only was there anti-seize on the lug bolts - instant fail on the ASE test, "clean and dry" is the correct answer - but there was also anti-seize on the caliper bolts (!).
Double noise shims on the pads, so that part was extra special.
Naturally, I have to blast into DC in the morning, so had to harvest the bits off Poor Olde Blue.

Disagree! I have used copper anti-seize for about 40 years and so far no issues on lug bolts. With the liquid death sprayed on the roads up here leaving it to divine intervention over the winter means stuck lug bolts. Sure you will torque them slightly more than spec but it is the lesser of 2 evils!
This spring I swapped a young friends winter rims for summers. There is no way she would have got the lug bolts out. My electric impact driver is good for over 300ft/lb and it would not budge them. They were rusted in! A lot of penetrating oil sprayed between the bolts and the rim and hub, followed by a long pipe extension an 3/4" breaker (as well as my slim 300lb+ frame) got them loose eventually. And that was only one winter!
Caliper bolts, 100% no-no! No anti-seize on those!
Neil.

Started taking the dash apart to install a new head unit... and then just kept going. Currently vacuuming 24 year old dust.
