I did not know there was a filter in the system. First I have heard of that. Maybe on a 850, on a V70 there is a strainer/filter cup in the top of the tank where the water enters.

What I have found is the non-return valves built into the 'T' pieces in the pipe can block. they have small apertures in them that can fill with crud. The nozzles themselves can also block.

You can clean the non-return valves and nozzles. The ones I have on my V70 have a small removable black or white lid that can be removed carefully with a small flat blade screw driver. There is a small round rubber diaphragm inside which is the non-return valve part. If it is holed or you lose it it will take much longer for the water to reach the nozzle on the hood.

These are parts I pull at the junkyard. Even the hood nozzles can be removed with care. I used the S60/V70 P2 on my car as it gives a better spread of water over the windshield than the P80 verisons.

If I can remove that air handling box that is to the front of the coolant tank, I can get to the stupid windshield washer filter - the tube on the bottom requires some access to pull off & especially to replace. Why does it have TWO tube out the top, that are just vented? I can understand one so the piston can move, but two ?

I can lift off the computer code access jacks and make a bit of room to reach down to the filter.

Well the tubular clearish plastic thing hanging below & in front of the air-box-thing LOOKs like a filter to me.
How do I trace & find & access all these possible blocked parts? The actual washer fluid tank is underneath a bunch of stuff. Do I need to dig down to it & remove the tank to trace the tubes to find the Y connectors etc.

Maybe sticking a wire in both nozzles is the easiest way to start - but the chance of both nozzles being partly blocked at the same time is low.

I had someone operate the washer while I looked - the cylindrical thing that looks like a filter has a crack at the base of the tit for the vent tube. So I put JB Weld epoxy on it.

The filter screen is in a t-piece which is the main feed for BOTH nozzles.
It have a red cap underneath it.
It is in the middle of the hood just under the insulation...between the two nozzles.

No filters in a washer tank and not in the motors.

Like Neil said....only filter/screen is on a filler neck of washer tank and it's there to prevent debris and dirt to get into a tank and further...into motors.

Annnnd, the OTHER tit has a crack. So more JB Weld epoxy.
Exactly what is this & the part number, so I can put it on my list ?
And still a bit of a leak, so slathered a lot of epoxy all over the top & over the hoses.

The leaky part is the AIR VENT VALVE PN 9151208 (thanks, IDPusa phone guy). But they don't carry it !
Bought one elsewhere to have on hand in case the epoxy doesn't stick to the plastic in the winter.
Seems to come up as discontinued at some dealer inventories.

What diameter hose do I need for this portion of the system? I might have to cut some hose so I want some on hand. And some connectors. Volvo only sells complete harnesses.

And still low flow - the passenger spray nozzle is broken where it goes into the hose. Replaced the other side some years ago...

I want a new hood insulation pad but cannot find one OEM or 3rd party.
Seems that the V70 pad will not fit.
And I dropped an oval clip, its lost on top of the skid plate.
