Worth spending time cleaning up the sliders and greasing as needed before installing. Way easier! Hopefully as you have the full sunroof 'cassette' it won't need any alignment once in!

Thanks for all the pictures.

Hey Neil!

Yup, got the full cassette, no alignment needed ,

Once headliner and trim is out.....the new roof popped right in.

Had a buddy hold and raise it up into place, approx 9 bolts, (10mm) later, and all popped into place.

Questions:

What should I grease the slides with? Whit. Lithium grease, or will WD40 do for now.

And ...
The slider moonshade part, any suggestions how to clean off a few spots?

Now to put the headliner back in with all the trim, that is a future project! Hahaha

Thanks for all the help along the way.

If anyone needs to do this job, pm me and will be happy to talk and share the pitfalls, there are only a few.

Big Al

Thanks for all the help!

WD40 is probably fine as you don't want something that is going to attract and trap too much crud going forward.

If you are talking about some 'spots' are you talking rust or some other discoloration?

If it is slight rust on the frame of the glass, then I would look at masking the glass and then sanding the metal down clean, treating with rust treatment and then painting with automotive enamel paint or like to match. If you are not too bothered at the finish, then even a coat of POR-15 would work.

Neil, talking about spots on the fabric of the moon roof cover.

Any ideas on how to clean this?

Al
