The key info isn't stored in the CEM.

You are wrong! Keys are stored only in cem. Depending on cem, it can be stored in 24f400 flash (in case of cem-b) or in eeprom for other cems

I cloned my cem and then my car key worked without problems so I assumed the information must be in the flash file I copied to the new cem.

folks , i'm slowing getting the parts together to make the cem cracker. i have the teesny. but i would like to use dip version of the CAN transceivers. so i can use it on a breadboard. for the first try out before having to figure out how to make a board with it all in one with a OBD connector.

i did see the MCP2561 from microchip which has a voltage range of 1.8 to 5.5v , which falls in the required voltage of the teensy output. ,
does it have to be the sn65hvd230dr ? or is that the best suited for the application. , now i also spotted a this
----> https://carlightbulb.com/products/cjmcu ... QoQAvD_BwE and wondered if that would work well ? they seem to have the resistors routed somewhere on them pre made boards. thanks in advance!
