My car has been exhibiting a farily loud humming noise from the rear drivers side tire. I had just thought that it was my summer tires because they are getting low on tread but the garage (non-Volvo) says that it is a rear hub bearing. Their work estimate is for 1.3 hours so it must not be a big job to replace. Does anyone have instructions on how to do this. Is there any reason that I shouldn't tackle this myself?
Thanks, Kevin

Kevin,
You might want to get a second opinion just in case...your car being an AWD, I would be concerned that the noise might be a drive shaft issue of the AWD on that side....lets hope not. Anyway, I just looked in VADIS and it appears that the rear hub replacement is quite involving...just about every part of your rear suspension on that side (including your rear shocks) have to come out...Not to mention your brake calipers have to come off as well. It is quite involving and unless you want to tackle this yourself and feel confident and competent to do this, I would leave it to the professionals. That said, I have the VADIS instructions that I copied off to a pdf file so if you want them, just email me and I'll send them to you: badger36-at-knology.net (replace -at- with @).
