tranny flush

Hi all

I have read through the tranny flush pages, which are proving to be really helpful. I just have a bit of twist which I would just like to get some info on.
I have to replace my radiator so this will make keeping track of the exact amount of atf impossible.

Should I, instead of draining from the top of the radiator, drain at the bottom until fluid comes out clean and then just connect it to the new rad and keep filling till it comes out the top and then just use the dip stick to monitor for the correct level?

Well, I'm all finished and all went well. The gear changes have drastically improved, it's like new again :)

I connected clear pvc pipe to the bottom hose (coming from the tranny) and ran it into my empty container and attached my funnel to the top hose (going toward tranny). Drained and filled the gearbox (3,5 liters) then flushed 3 times (2-2,5l at a time, although I got red fluid on the second flush already but wanted to be thorough). Then connected the bottom hose to the radiator and started the motor again and almost immediately it came gushing out the top, so I connected the top hose as well. Took the car for a short drive and when I got back home I let it run while I checked the oil level and topped up.

Thanks to whoever did the modified trans flush :)

No problem...glad it helped you.

Btw, I would check your level again in a day or two (after you've had a while to run)...ultimately changing a radiator out (also means your ATF cooler) there were bound to be some air bubbles that might have surfaced and lowered your over-all level. I guess that you know you have to check the fluid level after the car has run at least 15 minutes at highway speeds...and you check it while the engine is running. Just want to make sure...you can under-fill a little bit but you don't want to over-fill is what I've always heard too.
