NA head on 2.3 Turbo?

Post by Clemens »

I'm in the process of parting out a 93 NA (20 V). Will the head fit on my 94 T5M or 96 R? Imy guess is that the bare block and the bore is identical, but the stroke is different.
If the head is different, then at least the cams and Valves are worth saving because the NA cams are a nice upgrade and I believe the valves are identical.

Any word of wisdom is appreciated.

I believe the turbo valves are different in the material they are using (sodium filled or something like that?), but the head in itself might be the same thing.

That was my initial thought as well.
But then I thought about the whole head, but since the bore of the NAs is different and the valves may not be sodium filled on NAs, the cams might be the only thing worth saving

Valves are Na filled on the turbo head, not Na filled on the NA.

Na fill is N/A on the NA.

To sum it up, nothing except for the cams and the intake out of a NA can be reused in a Turbo car, if I understand correctly.

Also on this point, FWIW, the 93 NA cams are preferred over other, later years. They have slightly higher lobes. But maybe thhat's the 93 year for North American cars, not European?

And do the 93 NA cams work better when installed by a virgin in a full moon's night?
