identified a leaking radiator hose which has been dumping coolant. I fixed a leak to the coolant reservoir and my guess is by the increase in pressure a second leak became apparent on the top passenger radiator hose. Easy to change, will try to find some time today to do it.
I think an exhaust leak has formed somewhere near my flex pipe, still need to find time to drop by my indy or a muffler shop to remove the old oxygen sensor to replace it with a newish one from the wrecked car.
Fixed my HID foglights and installed highbeams with a more even beam pattern.
Need to find time soon to swap to winter tires

Question for you . Is this the sensor near the pedal or the one on the brake vacuum booster under hood? Getting a P1041 on Shagg…smacknab wrote: ↑31 Aug 2020, 19:26 Swapped my brake pedal position sensor since I had a p1041 and a code stored in the ECM for it, plus no cruise control. Before I did it I read that for 99's sometimes the ETS light is tripped by the position sensor. Now my 1041 is gone, cruise control is back and what do you know 100 miles of mixed driving later no ETS light either.

I believe it is the one on the pedal. The one on the booster is the sensor for the brake lights I think I recall. The one at the pedal affects the cruise control.

Got my 2 winter 'slave' wheels back with new valves and re-sealed so hopefully they will now hold air over the winter months while the car is stored. I will move it into the old garage and cover it tomorrow. Want to leave it 24 hrs to see that none of the tires go down in pressure. I still suspect one and naturally it ended up in the one spot which is hardest to access once parked!
Naturally the cars I own always try to outdo each other in terms of which is the biggest and most expensive PITA. I bought a (old) Toyota 4Runner as I was told with low mileage it would be reliable. It continues to break in spectacular style and will soon outdo the 'R' at a far fast rate. The X-REAS (fluid suspension) failed early on (Quote from dealer was near $8500 to repair, I paid around $3500) the exhaust manifold on one side split as predicted by other owners at 100k miles mine was ticking when bought but dealer swore it was not the manifold). Option is to replace with another terrible OE pair, or a set of Doug Thorley Stainless T304 units. They are on back order since May and are currently forecast for Jan/Feb 2023! Either way that is a $5000+ job as engine has to come out!
Both front axle C/V boots split (fortunately covered by warranty) and now there is a strange acrid smell in the cabin each time the car starts. I believe it will turn out to be the A/C evaporator. Turns out there is another 'known issue' I did not know about. If you ever think removing a P80 dash to replace the evaporator, then that job is for amateurs! Apart from very poor Youboob videos, it is a multi-hour job to remove the dash and way more complex than a P80. Ho-hum!

Man, I think you found the worst 4runner around! In my experience, Toyota trucks are pretty bullet proof. That's not to say they're without weird issues though. The tailgate electronics on my Sequoia were absolutely ridiculous. Most complicated crap ever for a tailgate... never had a working lock. But the roll down window worked... go figure! Also the release handle was a piece of junk. Those ALWAYS break on those trucks. The 4runner's electronic release is much more reliable.
As for those 2UZ exhaust manifolds... super common problem. Mine always had a slight leak, you could hear a "flutter" when accelerating. I never cared enough to fix it... although it was a little irritating. I've been in the market for a truck... I should torture myself some more with a Tundra!

Yup. 2003 V8 Limited. Cheap seat materials that always split on the sides, exhaust manifolds that crack as they decided to not only make them really inefficient, but stick the catalizers right on the end close to the heads where they get really hot and crack the headers due to constant heat cycling. Does make them harder to steal though................!
Only positive is the vehicle only has 115,000 miles on it which is low and the seat is more comfortable than a first gen standard XC90 . Fuel consumption is also terrible for a 4.7 litre V8.
Why do people like them?
Neil.

Successfully fixed a warm start stalling issue. If the car was warm it would stall immediately after starting unless you gave it some throttle.
Replaced the thermostat & temp sensor. Cleaned the throttle body which was very dirty.
But I think what did it, was a hose connecting to the rear underside of the large rubber intake flexi pipe, was disconnected! Also one of the small lines going into the air box.
Good lesson to do basic checks before throwing parts at it, but happy with the new parts as maintenance items anyway.
I did it all together with the car cool so unfortunately wasn’t able to narrow down which was the exact fix but happy it’s starting up well when warm and running smooth.
