09 C30 1.6D Headlight conundrum.

Post by moorlander »

Evening all, newbie here so please go easy. My C30 needs an MOT. Failed on dipped headlight. Turns out the headlight has a crack in it water has entered the unit and the connector between the harness and unit has corroded. I've cleaned it up, but I can't get power to dipped beam.
I'm thinking of bypassing the connector block, but I can't figure out which wire is dipped beam on the harness side. Can anyone help with that, or an alternative solution?
Many thanks.😊

Dipped headlight in the UK refers to not main beam or in the case of Volvo, Day time running light.

What we call low beams ... they are dipped down to keep from blinding on coming traffic.

dip verb (drop) to go down to a lower level:

The difference between low and high beams is the angle not the intensity.

UK: To make the beam from the lights at the front of a vehicle point down:
You'll dazzle oncoming drivers if you don't dip your headlights.

Electrical Wiring Diagrams are online. Back trace until you find the fault then fix it.
