Cleaned the S70 up a bit. I did the engine compartment, and rims/tires myself. I hadn't done either since purchasing it a few weeks ago. The rims look a LOT nicer now, as does the engine compartment. Neither are perfect as I did the wheels with them on, and I didn't go gung-ho on the top of the engine since I didn't feel like pulling all the coils to use the shop-vac to suck out wash water.... so it's still filthy under the plastic "Volvo" cover. The cover itself got cleaned last week in the kitchen sink.

Then after all that I drove up to get a cup of coffee, and then through the new car wash. I bought a subscription like I did for the 850, but found out about some of the niceties I didn't know about. They have some very powerful self-serve vacuums at no extra charge, for instance. It was getting dark, but I quickly vacuumed out the trunk carpet, since that had been bothering me. Then I hit the floor in the passenger compartment. Sure is nice getting rid of SOME of the previous owners filth. I think this car was owned by a "4th owner" that likely cycles through cars quickly, and does little to nothing except drive it.... although she did get the oil changed at least once.

I noticed an oll change sticker that I hadn't seen before. The mileage/date were not too far off from current, so I called the shop to ask if the date was an approximate date of the next service or the then current service. He said it was a future date. I'm not too far passed their mileage/dates. If I had been really thinking, I would have asked what they use as an interval.... could only be 3000 miles, although that's becoming more recognized as antiquated. The sticker also notes the oil viscosity, which is 5w30... not what I'd run, but it's fine for this time of year. I'll switch to 5w40, but I'll wait a bit, since the oil still looks fine, and I know it's not ancient.

While cleaning the wheels, I took pictures of the brake pads on the driver's side. Much like the 850, I think the fronts are new--ish. I think they're Textar, which I've never heard of prior to seeing them on FCP's website. The rear were harder to see, but I don't think they're as worn as what the 850 had.... those were worn to within microns of the backing plates.

I also noticed a 2021 Parks pass from some state.

The Weather Man finally gave me something besides monsoon or arctic, so I washed the container holding all my spare cash from the last year or so.

Very nice looking ride, Foggy !
I hate to think about it being driven on those D.C. roads, though I shouldn't talk, considering.

This car appears to have been parked inside its entire life. The only rust anywhere was on the very few AWD- only bits, as detailed earlier in the adventure, especially the center bearing support/exhaust hanger. The two fixtures holding the rear radius rods to the undercarriage show paint failure, but not as bad as the center bracket ( which fell in half when I unbolted it .)
Dr. Abscate saw this car while it was a work in progress.
Got tags last week and took it on its first road trip today.
Nothing fell off.

Re-installed a hood insulation clip that I found the other day, while poking around down by the battery. I didn't know what it was so I took it int he house, and was going to ask here. Later, I saw the rest of them on the car, but didn't take the time to go in the house to get the found clip. It must have popped out with the impact of the front end accident that happened before I bought the car. It snapped right back in place.... I even oriented it to match the one on the opposite side :-)

Harvested more parts from the crashed volvo today. Swapped a turn signal lense, grabbed a spare uro parts radiator hose to replace the leaky leaky one, and cut out the o2 sensor which was used for about 6 months prior to the crash. I was getting o2 sensor DTC's however since changing the air filter the DTC has not come back... ooops

Also transferred the Acura parts to the shed (coil packs, ps pumps, starter, ballasts)

Fuel economy on the drive back was a healthy 8l/100km with the roof box mounted on top. Average speed 105 km/h.
