transmission brand 2000 S80 2.9

Need location of the identification # on the tranny.dealer says its a 4 speed but it fells like it shifts into 5th or overdrive ???????? shifter says 1-2-3-D Is this normal ? tranny seems to shift fine.About to flush the unit so I want to put in the right fluid

A 2000 S80 had either a GM-derived 4T65EV or 4T65EV-GT [the GT is the tiptronic version). So, Dexron III-G for your transmission. Volvo part numbers are 1161521 for a 1 liter container, and 1161621 for a 4 liter container.

Funnily enough, the car before my current S70 had a 4T65 in it! (My beloved '88 Buick Electra Park Avenue, may it rest in peace.)

SUCCESS !I drianed and flushed ALL the old fluid out ! With Dexron III plus a filter.NOTE !!!! Top hose on radiator IS NOT the right hose to connect to for the to flush the system ( ask me how I know ) Use the bottom hose ONLY! fot this appliction. Used about 4 gals . to get it nice and red.
Filter @ auto zone $17.00 4 gals of fluid $38.00. Big time messy job but relatively easy Last fluid was when car was built
