Guess who got to hang out with Abscate for a couple hours?

Post by matthew1 »

My son and I... Steve was here on business and drove down from Boulder to have dinner with my son and me. (Steve, thanks for making the drive, and sorry we couldn't meet you closer to where you were.) We grabbed some Mexican food at a Denver mainstay Blue Bonnet.

Oliver (13) said (unprompted) he enjoyed talking to Steve and listening to him spill facts about physics and his experiences as a student at university... My son is more on the quiet side, and I usually have to nudge him to get anything more than a yes/no. But after Steve left to go back to Boulder, Oliver said he really liked Steve and what he had to say. TLDR = high praise.

Embarrassingly, I'd forgotten I'd met Steve before. Yes, you read that right. That's a symptom of a brain tumor I have that's conveniently located  in the memory center of my dome. More on that here: viewtopic.php?t=99016 So my apologies to Steve! My indecents are almost never that bad, nor are they common, but there it is... sigh. After my shock wore off after his polite reminder to me that we'd met, I do recall a bit about meeting him years ago here in Denver.

So if you ever get the chance to hang out with Abscate I recommend it, especially if you or your kid is into science. Sadly I forgot to get a photo with us three grrr.

My pleasure and what an interesting and polite young man ! I didn’t want to intrude with kid pictures but next time we will do some Volvo kid content so the moderators don’t get upset.

Managed to survive a week in Boulder without altitude sickness….headed home this morning…

Wow, clean shirt and a shave !
A trip to Colorado Springs and up Pikes Peak should convince anybody that partial-pressure is a Thing. Jumping jacks in the parking lot on top is not recommended.
