V70 T5 Whistling noise, loss of power

i was driving, and went to pass someone, so i pressed the accelerator down pretty hard and about halfway through the rev, i heard a pop, the card then slowed, but i finished the drive with no smoke, etc. I then experienced periodic engine "shakes" at idle, and a dramatic loss of engine power, also there is a new whistling noise that is not the turbo whistle, sounds like a leak from somewhere, the car was properly warmed up (had been running for 30 minutes) however i just gotten back from the airport where it had sat for about 4 days.

any ideas of what is the problem?

figured it out, i walked outside and popped the hood, and the hose (dont know what it is exactly to) that is right on the front of the engine had popped off, its connected to a longer plastic part that runs over top of the engine and to the rear. maybe a turbo hose?

put it back on, and tightened it up, boom.

Jake, welcome to MVS.

I had a similar thing happen to me. One of your turbo hoses has blown off and the whistling you hear is the air being sucked in AFTER the MAF (mass air flow sensor) where you turbo hose is disconnected. I suppose the worst case is that you actually blew a hole in one of the hoses rather than it just popping off. The usual suspects are the 90degree hose under the intercooler (driver's side) or the hose that connects to the throttle body, next to the manifold. Either way, check all of your larger diameter hoses under your hood. The rubber hoses do get soft over the years can pop a hole or just pop off. Bad news is, until you fix this you're going to keep getting shakes at idle and your car might not even start due to unmetered air getting into the system.

Edit: I was posting this while you found your solution and posted back. Glad you figured it out. If you've set any engine codes while the hose was off it's best to go to an Autozone or other parts store and get them to reset them. Good luck and once again, glad you figured it out.
