No Crank, Multiple Electrical Issues 1999 Volvo C70 ME7 Coupe

Post by Nocrank »

Turn the key and nothing, no crank no start. I can start the car by jumping the pins in fusebox where the starter relay should be, jumping from ignition switch directly to the starter when my wife turns the key to the start position. The car will run great and all gages work.

I also have no power windows, no locks, no power windows, trunk won’t open, gas cap won’t open, interior lights won’t work and no keyless entry.

Is this all related to the alarm system? Where do I turn from here, any advice? Is the alarm module married to the ECU? Or can I pull a module from junkyard? I’m very close to getting rid of this vehicle even tho it only has 112k.

I believe this is not an immobilizer issue thus far as if it's like the '99 v70, it wouldn't run for more than 2 seconds even with it jumped. It could be an ignition switch... Check your relays and fuses in the kidney box for good measure.

I think I would try hard grounding the starter relay before I swapped the 2/76. Confirm that everything is getting signal up to the last ground of the relay before diagnosing 2/76 as bad.
