Direct replacement w/o mods are the R clutch and the Spec clutches (pricey and they have mixed reviews).
There might be something different. Check out europeantuning.nl (switch language settings to English and suddenly it all makes sense), they might have something besides the R and Spec clutches

If you know about any other EU based shops with 850 goodies, please send the links my way! Would be awesome to have something like IPD but based in Europe :/
And btw, I'm using an M56 (not M59) gearbox ...

The R clutch fits the M56 as well, it just handles more torque.
The best overall source for 850s is skandix.de. They have alot of Volvo parts. My local Volvo dealer orders at Skandix because he gets OE Volvo parts cheaper there than through Volvo Austria.
Skandix has some hopups, but mainly OE or aftermarket parts.

I've also heard changing the pressure plate can help the 850R clutch take more torque. Sachs 707 plate and Audi S2 plate get mentionned quite often, apparently can get the 850R clutch to 580Nm but flywheel needs to be modified

I can vouch for Skandix,Rendcarparts and EuropeanTuning, bought a lot of stuff from these guys. You might find some stuff on https://www.kgtrimning.org/850-1/ but they're more of a redblock site.

Hey, welcome to another Volvo enthusiast.
Your R looks very nice.
For now I will leave my car as is (I can still run the stock ecu for 'MOT" or one with tune), but since so few people work with these ECUs, I think you are on the right track to go aftermarket. I agree with your reasoning, just not sure if it is easy or hard to do.
I would consider dropping in an do88 intercooler & Rad if you don't already have one. K&N make a drop in filter for the stock airbox.

I would very much like to hear of your experience to make it work if you do it.

I will let you know once the process begins - the biggest problem I see at the moment is to sort out the wiring and find all the preconnectors.
As for the intercooler - it's been replaced already - unfortunately, I don't know which one I have since car is not with me atm. Once the engine-out procedure is done, I'll pay the mechanic a visit and make a list of all the parts
