People that start car, don't remote start it, and then drive it off easily and then get on a highway and go 40 miles as their rgular drive can do well with 10K interval. Most of the rest of us should adjust it downward. Synthetic oil is way better but falls short of being magic for city drivers in an overcrowded commute.

Agree that these stretched oil change intervals need to be tuned down depending on driving conditions. I'm not sure why car makers still advertise oil change intervals that rather seem to be adequate rather for long highway distance driving ? Most people will use their cars for a regular commute, say 15 miles one way with mixed city-highway driving, which I doubt it's a healthy scenario for a 10.000 miles oil change inteval. Plus, as the car gets older, say past 100.000 miles, wear and perhaps less optimal fuel combustion contaminate the engine oil more, so a further decrease in the oil change interval is a wise approach. At least Volvo clearly requires fully synthetic oil for these intervals.

While there, it is interesting to see that only the 4 cylinder engines seem to have been designed for the thinner W20 engine oils

I'm also surprised about having to wait up to a few minutes to cool down the turbo?

When the 6 cylinder engines, 3.2 NA and the 3.0 Turbo, were the only XC60 engines here the 6 speed was the only transmission behind those. There was a period of time late 15 and 16 when the 5 cylinder 2.5T was offered like it had been all over the world for years and it also had the 6 speed in this model. The Volvo USA or Canada sites should be correct but if you found the world site it would be different due to offering 6 speed manuals with many engines with auto transmission as optional.
The 8 speed option had to be checked on the 17 and 18 S/V90. Also on the XC90. I was going to preorder the V90 until my service advisor talked me out of ordering it. He was right I would not have been happy with the T5. As for the 19 XC90 T5 FWD I did not get that far because FWD for 19 XC90 is only offered on the Momentum and R package. I want Inscription. Therefore I will just keep my old T6... also I have had service loaners in the last few years without the 8 speed. XC60 or XC90 is all I have driven as loaners for years. June

This morning in traffic I saw an XC60 with "3.0 T5 AWD" on the back. Looked like the 2015 or later model year. So I assume that was the engine that was only available for a short period.

I need to go out to some dealers and drive some XC60's to get a feel for the engine options. I'm so dreading the used car dealer interactions though....

I have been in this 18 XC60 service loaner for a week so I popped by the dealer today and noticed the dash map has a cute Volvo marker! I could not resist sharing a picture! They have not even touched my car so I likely will have this XC the rest of the week. It really is growing on me, but I can't wait to have my car back... June

For an XC60 that is in the range of 2010-2015, could someone advise me what is the best year for engine/trans combo?

- Coming from 1998 S70, 2005 XC90 2.5T, 2004 V70 etc., I am somewhat familiar with Volvos.
- I am looking at XC60 with 80K-90K miles.
- I just need good reliability and minimum repair cost combo.

Thanks!

I read the complaints to see if there were any issues trending and see if those are thing I want to or can potentially deal with.
