Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Completed the moves and storage and rolled Shagg to Long Island. Found “ Dans Diner “ in Chatham with an $8 omelette

Thanks! That price seems competitive compared to getting one from a junkyard which hasn't been mangled by a forklift. It's remotely possible that I could pick that up.
Does anyone know if a C70 subframe brace will fit a 1998 V70? That -98 vs 99- difference always worries me.

All my cars have had the original starter and all the ETM's I have pulled from the junkyards have all had the rear bracket and the wiring run behind the starter.
I didn't have time to look at the frame brace, and I must be honest when I say the amp had not been taken I got off track. I may go back for another look now and see if it is there. Shipping might be a challenge!
Brunocerous, what type of tire changer did you get?
Neil.

Finally got to work on my young friends 1998 V70 SE. Been a while but I had some outstanding small electrical jobs to do, mostly replacing bulbs. I was going to replace the LHS driver's door wiring harness, but the owner said she has not had any issues in a long time with the fuel flap opening, so she said to leave it for now. I have a spare harness, but the long term weather forecast is for much lower temperatures in February which is the same time she had issues last year when it was cold. At least she had the manual over-ride I installed last year should it become an issue again.
I meant to ask, is there a relay that the fuel flap uses? If there is, then does anyone know where it is? That way on my next trip to the junkyard I may look at pulling a spare.
The car's center console bulb for the gearshift position was out as was the ashtray bulb. I have found that IPD has an almost reasonable priced bulb for the gearshift, but I have not found one for the ashtray. Anyone have a source for that rather than the CDN $30 from Volvo?
Replaced both of those as I had a good spare for the ashtray, and then the butt clenching moment. I had left the ignition key and fob on the drivers seat and closed the passenger door to then hear all the doors lock. Called the owner to see if she could bring a spare to find she does not have one! EEEEK!!
Called the AMA (Alberta's AAA).They turned up an hour later and had the passenger door open in about 3 minutes. Scary! Only issue was the process bent the door pull button. Fortunately it was 5 seconds to straighten again without removing the door panel.
Next job to swap the light switch bulbs as they were out again with spares I recondition with new bulbs on the original pedestals. 5 minutes for that and then the job I was dreading. Trying to repair the RHF fog-light housing. Closer inspection Showed not only was the glass cover shattered but the mounting bracket was bent and the lens adjuster sheared off and the lower mounting screw was missing.
Fortunately I have some spare parts so was able to manufacture a full working unit and re-install it. Still can't believe the 2 mounting bolts came out without a fight. They usually fight all the way or the heads shear off.
New bulb for both sides (got some H1's for $2 CDN each on clearance) and car was good to go.
Still have to a few jobs I would like to get to at some point including finding a replacement grille for the fog-light area which is missing ($10 for Volvo), and still need to get the Evap system smoked.
Getting there!
Neil.

Wrapped up the work on the '97 T5 today.
Got the replacement dash and console buttoned up

Then I took it out for a short drive to make sure things are happy after the NA cam swap.

Even was able to finally make use of the parking brake, now that it works.
Engine feels good at the currently cam timing settings, so we'll leave it for now until the weather is nicer for more tuning/testing.

Not today, but yesterday... I drove to another town to pick up a spare tire for my truck. So I have a 245/75R16 in my trunk! It's still there, because it's not doing any harm, and I don't really know where I want to put it. I bought it mainly for the rim, but I'll check the DOT code on the tire, too. It has good tread, but I suspect it's old.
Like Abscate, I found new food to eat. When I go to this particular auction house, I always stop by Jimmy John's, and I tried their Cubano sandwich. I think it's new, since I last ate there. It was good!

Thanks!
That dash pad is one of the nicest I've come across. It was originally tan, but seeing as I have been running a black pad, I didn't really care what color it was to start. I've actually had the pad in the car for a while, as I didn't want to risk it getting damaged sitting around in the garage.
The pad that was with this dash isn't quite as nice, but it'll be going into the wife's car, as it matches her dash and is in slightly better shape.
One fun find on this dash was the glove box cubby.

ALL of the mounting locations were intact!
I also replaced the dash speakers (following a lead by someone else) while I had it all apart.

You definitely win the dash pad beauty contest, way nicer than either of mine.

That glove box liner with no broken screw holes is rocking horse dropping rare! Nice find. Dash looks good too. Hard to find nice ones of those at this age of the cars.
