Since I lost my old serpentine belt tensioner tool, went to the farm supply store to make another one. 39 cents out the door. Is that a new record?

The only cars in North America that were sold in saffron were the 1998 V70R and 1998 C70 coupe. Europe got an S70R for '98, available in saffron. I believe it was available on other P80s too over there, but not here.454cid wrote: ↑29 Jan 2023, 11:30Were only Saffron V70's imported to North America?bmdubya1198 wrote: ↑29 Jan 2023, 07:37 Woah, saffron S70? Where did you find that? Must have either been imported or painted.

Couldn't get a 3/4" bolt and my angle grinder is taking an extended vacation in someone else's toolbox, so had to add washers.

One short drive to take a kid to school in the T5, and it would crank, no-start for a good 10 minutes, followed by misfire codes. A couple of long drives later, it had no problem starting.
Then I noticed I’d lost a wheel bolt somehow.

If you are up to date on ignition parts, I would have look at the engine coolant temperature sensor, visual on the pins in the connector and the cold temperature ohm reading.

Thanks for the offer! I could swear I took some wheel bolts off the XC70 I ended up using for parts.
Last night, I ordered the Bosch distributor cap and rotor, plus new wires. The plugs are new, as of about 1,000 miles ago.
I'll also need a coolant system refresh (hoses, thermostat, sensors, heater core) in the coming months. The previous owner had the timing belt done about 20k miles ago, so I'm wondering if I should redo it along with the water pump while I'm draining the coolant anyway.

Hi,
Took the car out on a drive first time in many 2 months now. Went to the dollar store about 1.2 miles away.
Doesnt sound like much, but after all the problems i have been having it's a milestone.
Had to replace a lot of stuff mostly ignition stuff.
Ran pretty smooth all the way. Hope it stays that way.
Also updated my car telemetry. Now it automatically logs the battery voltage 24/7 and i can read it from inside the house. That's a milestone too been thinking about doing that again for a long time now. Next i will probably add the temperature from inside the car or maybe engine compartment. That will allow me to log the voltage, temperature, and date and time stamp.
Was also wondering if other people would be interested in such a device with wireless remote measurement of the battery voltage 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

I’ve been driving a Volvo long before anyone ever paid me to drive one.
That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.
1998 v70, non turbo, FWD, base model, on the road from April 2nd, 2015 to July 26, 2023.

I like dollar stores. I pick up cleaning supplies from them, like sponges, and scrub brushes, and a few cleaners, like LA's Totally Awesome from Dollar Tree. I've also gotten something from Dollar General.... Mean Green, I think. The cleaners often get used for cleaning up car parts in prep for reassembly. I don't like working with dirty parts.MrAl wrote: ↑30 Jan 2023, 10:31 Hi,

I'm glad to hear the car ran well.
That sounds interesting. I don't think I have a reason to do it myself, but I'd appreciate hearing the way you're doing it... the nutshell version would be fine, as the details are probably more complicated than I'd understand. Also updated my car telemetry. I finally decided I better shovel the hood of the 850 off, and get my battery charger/maintainer connected, so that's what I did to my Volvo today. I should have measured the voltage before hand, but I didn't think of it...power locks worked, so the battery isn't dead. I used my new extension cord out to the car, that I bought for the purpose. That vinyl insulation sure is stiff at 21F.
I think I may spray something on the top of my 850's engine. I noticed a bit of white corrosion on the "valve cover" today. I'd guess it's because while sitting the moisture isn't being driven off. I'll have to decide what to use... might go with some sort of aerosol oil, but some sort of dressing/protectant might work too. Maybe even a spray wax?
